This blog was set up because the URL for my other (now "master" blog) was a tad too complicated to say over the air. This whole concept was also put together with the idea of promoting artists - particularly unsigned artists as they are linked on each playlist - via the powerful promotional tool that is the internet.
If you are a listener to the show, you'll know that I have mentioned this blog on the air a couple of times now. Guess what - you found it! Yay! All the music I play on the air is listed in this blog so you can check out the entire history of what was aired on the show. I personally had a problem way back in the day when mainstream radio actually played a half decent song or two and they only quickly mention the name of the track and move on so I have a good chance of forgetting the track. Rather than just forewarding the problem today on potential listeners of my show, I decided to make a dedicated blog which features the list (and links) to the music I played on the air so if you have that moment where you ask yourself, "Wait, that song was what again?" I got ya covered with this! :)
This blog also features interesting things that happen during the shows (rarely a show where nothing interesting happens after all)
For those who randomly stumbled onto this page via Google (or even found the link on my master blog and was led to this page... OK, or even possibly found the radio station, found the link on the schedual and now somehow managed to surf here still unsure what the heck this is all about) This is a blog dedicated for the radio show called 'SoundWave' It's a radio show on a campus station known as CFUR. In the time zone I'm in, it airs 6-7PM on Thursdays with a rebroadcasting at 3-4AM on Fridays. This is the time zone that British Columbia is in. If you're more familiar with the US map instead, it's the same time zone as California. It's a show dedicated to various genre's of electronica with it's chief genres in Trance and Drum N' Bass. The show also explores other genre's of electronica from time to time including psychadelic/goa-trance, hard trance, happy hard-core, experimental, dance, and much much more (at least one can only hope ;) ) I host the show and sometimes am able to pass comments along from the artists straight to the listeners.
While CFUR is a station on the FM channel as well as on the Cable system, CFUR also has a live internet stream so anyone from around the world can listen in whenever they want. Just check out the CFUR website and you'll see the feature on the main page (top right corner of the page)
A lot of the artists I promote post their own music online for free. I try and actively find musicians who do this because I think that they offer their music for free, therefore someone should be recognising the hard work they put in. Listeners can download the songs that are linked on this blog so they can listen to the music whenever they want. For the more commercial tracks, you can find most of the songs via www.beatport.com. Beatport also features a sample system where you can hear a portion of the song as well.
I hope you enjoy the show though. Be sure to tune into my show.
For those not really interested in electronica, CFUR also offers a huge variety of music including indie rock, pop, Hip Hop, Death Metal, Metal, etc. Just check out the schedual and click on the days of the week to see the descriptions of the music. It's unlikely you'll see a genre your interested that isn't already being aired at least once a week.
