SoundWave - Episode 5 (March 22, 2007)

(Note: Cross-posted from here)

A preliminary post for those lucky enough to visit my blog on a regular basis (or are an RSS subscriber at least) I'll edit this posting after the show if something interesting happens. Anyway, enjoy the music! :)

1. Pendulum - Fasten Your Seatbelts (Feat. The FreeStylers)
2. Airbase - Medusa
3. Concrete Pride - Got-cHanGE
4. Short Circuit - Neon Sky
5. Oz - Frequency
6. The BrainChild - Synthony
7. Jonas Steur - Sonrisa (Original Mix)
8. Groove Coverage - 7 Years and 50 Days

(Last track could be played, but I don't know for sure. Same mystery track as last episode though. ;) )

Edit: Updated finally!

What you see was what you heard. I actually met another DJ during the show. His name is Dennis (formerly known as DJ Siab - formerly known as DJ Weasel) He hosts a show called 'Drop the Beat' on CFUR and it airs 7-9PM on Fridays. The show went off almost without a hitch. At the end, I accidently did a short mashup between the Groove Coverage track and a Blues track (the show after my show) Oh well, I can't complain otherwise and the DJ after me and I had some fun chatting about random stuff right after the incident. :D

SoundWave Music LIVE!

(Note: Cross-posted from here)

My new blog has been created for those scratching their heads at the URL the other week over the air. While the posts will continue here, the playlists will be cross-posted here. Hopefully, I'll eventually get the otherBLOG up-to-date with the latest playlists. :)

SoundWave - Episode 4 (Mar. 8, 2007)

(Note: Cross-posted from a post written on March 8th, 2007 here)

There's never a dull and uneventful show, I can tell you that much. Today, someone came to the station to tell me how great my show was and, comically enough, surprised I actually knew "great music". I actually knew this individual on a casual accquaintence basis and turns out to be a closet Drum N' Bass fan. I asked this person if there was any preferences to artists like Sub Focus and Pendulum. I got no answer, but I can tell by the reaction that they were high preferences. (and yes, I am deliberately leaving no clues if you know me personally. I made a promise that I wouldn't tell anyone who likes this music, so I'm keeping my word ;) ) Though I admit that this doesn't make this any less funny!

While I was on the air, I gave the URL for my blog so people can find the entire music history of the show. But I think the tilda (~) made it a little too complicated. So I'll grab a blogspot site for the purpose of documenting what is aired later on (hopefully) so I can also provide playlists at a much easier to remember URL.

Anyway, here's this weeks playlist. I know there is only 8, but no track was shorter than 5 minutes and one was just over 9:15 in length. This didn't make the show drawn out though. I argue they were all great tracks. So here they are!

1. Cosmic Gate - Should Have Known (Estuera Inside Info Mix)
2. _steve - Dark Blue
3. Noel Sanger - Nothing (Kenneth Thomas Vocal Mix)
4. Hypnotix-2000 - Surge
5. Sub Focus - X-Ray
6. Espen & Elusive - Albatross Confessions (Original Mix)
7. Gianny - Project Unknown
8. Oz - Frequency

I had planned a ninth track, but I'm reserving that for next week. I was happy over half of my show was free myself. Others can enjoy it as well! :D

SoundWave - Episode 3 (Mar. 1, 2007)

(Note: Cross-posted from a post written on March 1st, 2007 here)

I bet you thought the show was dead! Well, guess what, Soundwave is back after 2 weeks of an unexpected break (a long story I don't want to get in to) Interesting things happened on this show as well. I walked out at the end of the show, I walked out and found someone I knew casually was hanging out right under the speaker. He told me that this was definitely music he likes.

I also had an excellent show (probably the best yet) I was told by another listener that I am REALLY improving my style while on the air. I also showed off some of my tracks to a tech guy while setting up for a gig in the near future I have with a class (I'll talk about that more when it gets closer)

Anyway, here's this weeks tracklisting:

1. Vascotia - Avalon (Original Mix)
2. Weedabix - Sketch
3. CLS and Wax - Quite Perfect
4. Octagen & Whirlpool - Alaska (Octagen Mix)
5. Chris Crispy - Clickin' V3
6. Logistics - The Trip
7. MetroMuzik - Odisey
8. ZenBoy - Fever
9. MetroMuzik - Mellow
10. Ryu - Be Quiet
11. Sub Focus - X-Ray

Note: Boldfaced tracks are the mystery tracks I have referred to earlier. They finally made it to air... well, Ryu made it to air in full, Sub Focus got about 15 seconds of air play. So, I will be replaying that track because I thought it was an awsome track that deserves full air-play too.

Anyway, be sure to tune in next week for my 4th edition of SoundWave on CFUR! :)

No Soundwave This Week

(Note: Cross-posted from a post written on February 18th, 2007 here)

If you listened to CFUR, you'll note that the playlist matched my first show. I had this week off and what played was what was recorded on the first show. Excellent music though! Tune in next week, I already have an excellent show lined up! :)

SoundWave - Episode 2 (Feb. 8, 2007)

(Note: Cross-posted from a post written on February 8, 2007 here)

Well, I had a great episode today. I had a lot of music and even had un-aired music as well. During the show while Shy 'FX & T. Power - Feelings', someone actually came into the station saying, "Uh, what song is this?" I said, "Shy FX & T. Power - Feelings", he looks at the name for a second and says, "What's your e-mail address? You gotta send me that track!" I guess that is another sign you're playing the right music and have a good show going!

Anyway, here's the complete track list. Again, anything that's legal to download is linked. Enjoy:

1. High Contrast - LoveSick
2. Sub Focus - Flamenco
3. Toby Emerson - Survivor
4. Eight Prime - Krilltwister
5. Shy FX & T. Power - Feelings
6. Lautsprecher - Omnibus [Radio Version]
7. Ami - Une Chose
8. Sub Focus - Airplane
9. Zale - Desire
10 Digital Enigma - And So We Fall
11. JS16 - Beat Box

There were also two unaired songs, but I won't reveal them since they never made it on the air. So yeah, excellent show and look to get better next time (hard to beat though I think)

Soundwave - CC Call/Announcement

(Note: This is Cross-posted from a post written on February 7, 2007 here. However, I am still looking for any Canadian artists interested in being on the air!)

This is an internet-wide call for a radio show called SoundWave! Are you a Canadian Artist? Do you release your music under Creative Commons? Do you want to be better known as an artist? Do you make electronica music like Breakbeat, Trance, Drum N' Bass, Techno, Electronica, House, Dance, Rave, Hardcore, Experimental, etc.? Please comment! I want to hear from you! I've already got a tight show and line-up and I'm already getting good reviews going into the second episode. If the show does, indeed, go big, so might you! I've set out to always post playlists after each show with direct links, so users who missed my show, but know my blog, can find out what was played, but more importantly, know where to find you. That's right, I'm playing Creative Commons music on indie public radio! I am enthusiastic and thrilled about this movement and would like to contribute to it by ringing in as many ears I can possibly get.

Myself, I am actually searching around for exactly the above to go with some already successful artists (not top 40, bleagh!) so I can prove that while copyrighted music sounds great, so does free music too! I've already got a lot of music, but hardly any submission will be rejected without my hearing it. Know an artist that fits this catagory, please pass a link on.

Thanks! My show is on Thursdays at 6PM-7PM (B.C. time zone) on CFUR (live internet feed avaliable as well so you can listen in no matter where you are!)

SoundWave - Episode 1 (Feb. 1, 2007)

(Note: Cross-posted from the February 1st entry as posted here)

As promised, I'm posting the entire playlist for the whole show. Future shows will likely contain more music. I had a shortage today and didn't know it saddly. All free music is linked. Only legally free music is linked (AKA CC licensed)

1. Pendulum - Prelude
2. Pendulum - Slam
3. Zale - Desire
4. Pendulum - Hold Your Colour
5. Zale - Marooned
6. High Priest of Mambuzu - Divinity
7. Da Buzz - Alive (C & N Club Mix)
8. Jonas Steur - Castamara
9. Electro Sanctum - Urban Skies
10. Clubstepper - The Fiddle

To give an idea at how good this stuff is, I previewed it with someone who told me he doesn't do anything with electronica including Dum N' Bass, Trance, etc. He was (thankfully) open enough to lend an ear to some of these tunes... and ripped the whole CD so he could play it later

Needless to say, asside from a shortage of music (which was my fault, I should have prepped more tunes in such a situation), the show was quite successful. :)

Welcome To SoundWave Music

This is the first post for SoundWave Music. SoundWave Music is the official blog for everything surrounding the Radio Show 'SoundWave' on CFUR Thursday evenings 6PM - 7PM (If you are in the same timezone as British Columbia)

You can find my official BLOG where, up to this point at least, I've been tracking the music as well as everything else I've been up to here. Bear in mind, I have a number of online projects on the go. So if you wonder what I'm talking about in some of my posts, I could be talking about a project you arn't familiar with.

This BLOG was created because the URL to my main blog is too complicated to say over the air (mostly thanks to the '~' in it) All the music over the air (as well as some juicy extra tidbits - if any at all) will be posted here.

For those who havn't heard of SoundWave before, SoundWave is a radio show on CFUR airing once a week with me (DJ Frozen IceCube) as your host. SoundWave explores the genres of electronica/dance. It emphasises indipendently created music and hits as many tastes (some can be potential tastes I'm sure) as possible. It mainly airs Drum N' Bass as well as trance. Though I also try and air other similar genres including HardCore, Electro, Goa-Trance, Hard Dance etc.

SoundWave is also a strong supporter of the Creative Commons movement which houses some of the finest electonica music around. So not only are they aired and listed in this blog, they also get linked to as well so anyone with an internet connection (and how can you read this blog without one?) can download and listen to the music as much as you like! (or in some cases, need to log-in to download, but most are, at least, streamable)

Even if you don't listen to the station or my show, I hope you enjoy the music anyway.

Now I will start cross-posting my earlier posts here nand hopefully get this BLOG up-to-date as soon as possible. :)
